A reader writes: I would like to buy a movie called "Catch a Christmas Star" with Shannon Elizabeth

[Reader's name deleted],

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately the movie hasn't been released on DVD. Since it just came out last year, Hallmark may want to sit on it a while before they release it. They release most, but not all, of their movies on DVD eventually, often as part of "collections." But most movies are several years old before they get to that point.

Several sites claim that you can download the movie now, but they are notorious for downloading spyware onto your computer while you do that.

If you have a dvr, set it to look for that movie this fall, then tape it off of the dvr onto your VCR or DVD recorder.

I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. One of my favorite Hallmark movies - Stubby Pringle's Christmas - has never been released on DVD or VHS. I have a home-made copy of a betamax recording of the thing, but would rather have an official high-resolution version.

They WILL show "Catch a Christmas Star" again this fall, based on how well it was received last year.
