2nd Snowman of 2016 (Family)

Well, two straight weekends in a row with great snow (last weekend 6", this weekend 8")! :D

So, I went nuts this weekend. A few people passing by pitched in (the rear snowmen). I did the front ones and most of the table. Let me know what you all think!

1st Snowman of Christmas 2016!

Every year I make as many snowmen as possible during each significant snowfall. I'm probably the only person in Chicago currently jumping up and down over Sunday's record greatest first snowfall of the season - 6.1 inches! Awesome! :)

So, here he is...this year's first snowman - Owen "Snowin ...

Re: What are your Top Ten Christmas carols of all time?

Gotta add a few new honorary faves...

Ring Christmas Bells - Ray Conniff Singers

God I love this song! I hadn't heard it in years and only late last year did I come across it again.

Here Comes Santa Claus - Gene Autry

This one brings back such intense memories!

Who here is the expert when it comes to Xmas tree lighting?

I have a question for whoever is the expert when it comes to lighting Christmas trees. As I mentioned in another post, I have an all-white tree that I want to decorate with all-blue lights. I want pale blue/ice blue lights. The ones I bought a few years ago are deep blue LED that over-bathes the ...

Re: 2016 Xmas Starting Now!

I considered using these:

Looks like a more icy blue that changes to a white/blue-ish white, and back again. But at $28 a set (and with only 70 ...

2016 Xmas Starting Now!

Well, I'm about 95% done with my Christmas decorating for 2016! Man, hours and hours of work every day! Can't wait to see it done. I'm trying to pick up a few new decorations this year. Found a cool Christmas lantern on Etsy that looks like one I had as a kid in the early 70's for a lousy $5! BOUGHT ...

Does anyone else know about this tradition?

We've had a family tradition passed down by my grandmother on my mother's side, and I've never been able to find any source or origin for it. We kids never really asked about it - it was just part of Christmas. Basically, on the morning of Christmas Eve (not Day), the very first thing you do when ...
